The Software Defined Networking (SDN) feature is now generally available for Azure Local, enabled by Azure Arc, starting with version 2510.
With this release, you gain cloud-style network control on your on-premises infrastructure, including logical networks, NSGs (Network Security Groups), and network interfaces managed through the Azure control plane.
You can now apply fine-grained traffic control via inbound/outbound allow/deny rules directly from Azure, enhancing security just as you would in the public cloud.
While some advanced features like full vNET peering, SLBs, and Gateways are still in the works, this GA release is a strong step forward for unified networking across cloud and on-prem.
If you’re running hybrid deployments or planning to extend your network fabric across locations, this is a game-changer.
