Chiron, as an implementation partner through Clarity Consultants, collaborated with Silicon Valley Bank (SVB) to address content management challenges and revamp their HR portal on SharePoint Online. The main objective was to dynamically display user-specific content based on their country of origin without the need for separate pages for each country. Chiron proposed solutions such as shared navigation, audience targeting using Office 365 dynamic groups, and custom-developed web parts to achieve this seamless content personalization for SVB.
Intranet Portal Upgrade, Redesign and Audience Targeting
Chiron partnered with Silicon Valley Bank (SVB) to successfully migrate their HR portal from SharePoint 2010 to SharePoint Online. By implementing innovative solutions such as shared navigation, audience targeting using Office 365 dynamic groups, and custom-developed web parts, Chiron enabled SVB to personalize user-specific content based on their country of origin, eliminating the need for multiple pages. The project showcased Chiron’s expertise in SharePoint migration, content management, and custom development, resulting in an enhanced user experience and improved content organization for SVB’s HR portal.

About The Project
The project involved migrating content from an outdated SharePoint 2010 site to the new platform and redesigning the site's logic and structure.
-
Problem
The primary challenge was to display country-specific content to users without the need to create separate pages for each country.
Additionally, the project faced limitations in using out-of-the-box components with minimal customization options. Chiron successfully addressed these challenges by implementing a solution that dynamically delivered personalized content based on the user’s country of origin while leveraging the available customization options within SharePoint Online.
-
Solution
To address the need for country-specific content, Chiron implemented audience targeting in the Navigation and Quick Links web parts using Office 365 dynamic groups.
Chiron collaborated with SVB to redesign the layout and data structure of the main Hub site, incorporating additional subsites and shared navigation. Furthermore, a custom-developed web part was created to display targeted content, allowing content owners to manage information in a single list across the hub. By leveraging dynamic O365 groups and web part configurations, users were presented with relevant content based on their group affiliation.
-
Technical Implementation
Implemented audience targeting to personalize the user experience based on user attributes.
- Utilized SharePoint navigation to create a structured information architecture.
- Leveraged lists and libraries for efficient content management.
- Developed custom SPFx solutions and web parts using TypeScript, JavaScript, HTML, and CSS to enhance functionality and customization.
- Employed various technologies and coding languages to ensure a robust and user-friendly implementation.
-
Client Feedback
Chiron never shied from work when it got more complicated or we had more questions.
It was nice to have this sense of stability from Chiron. Chiron was there to help us rework the plan to be feasible and then deliver on it. For me, that was well within what we originally budgeted.
Project Snapshots
Below you can find some of the examples of completed work. You can get an idea of developed Design, Layout, customization and custom functional from it. Main function on the portal was Audience targeting. That allowed to maintain less pages and in the same page display targeted content based on the employees country they are coming from.
